OUR MISSION

The history of a pluripotent stem cell that can become any tissue or organ in your body, began with cloning of a frog in 1962 by Sir John Gurdon and a mammal, Dolly the sheep, by Sir Ian Wilmut in 1997, both in the United Kingdom. Cloning allowed for generation and study of embryonic stem cells (ESC). The first mammal ESC was isolated from a mouse in 2006 by Evans and Kaufman both in the United Kingdom, and in humans in 2007 by Thomson in Madison, Wisconsin. Isolation and culture expansion of ESC allowed for the identification of gene transcription factors that can reprogram an adult cell into an embryonic cell equivalent and this genetically reprogrammed cell has been termed an" induced pluripotent stem" cell (IPS). The first murine IPS was by Yamanaka in 2006 in Japan using four transcription factors (OSKM), and the first human IPS cell was by Thomson in 2007 using a slightly different group of 4 transcription factors (OSNL).

While the initial IPS were generated using a viral vector backbone to reprogram a cell, new safer non-viral reprogramming techniques that may be used for generation of a clinical grade IPS cellular product have been developed. Multiple companies have focused on using these IPS cells to generate different body organs and tissue, These organs are allogeneic and are genetically and immunologically naturally specific for one person.
At Genani, we have focused on developing a universal stem cell that will repair any organ or tissue for all peoples regardless of their genetic or immunologic differences. We have also tweaked the technology in order for the IPS cell to function as a universal nurse cell to repair any tissue in your body and then within days disappear from your body with no risk of residual long-term side effects.

We call our cell the MãeCell. The word Mâe (pronounced my) is the Portuguese word for mother. The MäeCell is a universal mother cell that nourishes damaged or injured tissue anywhere within your body.

At Genani, we follow a business model that allows our customers to co-participate in an "earth-friendly" and "ecosystem friendly" social commitment to helping others and improving life for the next generation. A dynamic business model that we will unveil as MãeCell products come to market
